In the year 2000 LogiCom has invited the responsible persons for telematics of MAN, DaimlerChrysler, Volvo and Scania for a first meeting at the Munich airport and proposed that the commercial vehicle manufacturers should agree on a common standard for data out of the truck and had success with that proposal. The birth of the FMS-Standard. Within a year we have managed as moderator and consultant for this group of high-profile representatives of the four competitors to define a common standard. After the publication of the standard during the fair “Transport 2001” the group was extended by members of DAF and Iveco.
Since the end of 2003 the FMS-Standard gateways have been available at all commercial vehicle manufacturers with the defined scope of work.
Meanwhile the group is an internationally recognized group at the ACEA (European holding organization of the vehicle manufacturers) as a "Heavy Truck Electronic Interface Reference Group" - still under the leadership of LogiCom.
